HON’BLE JUSTICE A. HARIPRASAD
Born on May 19, 1959, Justice A. Hariprasad embarked on his educational journey, earning a B.Sc. Degree from Government Victoria College, Palakkad, in 1979, followed by a Law Degree from Government Law College, Kozhikode, in 1982. The legal profession beckoned, and on January 8, 1983, he was duly enrolled as an Advocate, becoming an esteemed member of the Bar Association, Tirur.
For nearly 13 years, Justice A. Hariprasad dedicated himself to the practice of law across various courts in Malappuram District. His commitment and expertise led to his recruitment as a District and Sessions Judge in the Kerala Higher Judicial Service. Subsequently, he assumed the role of Additional District and Sessions Judge in Palakkad on August 18, 1995. His judicial service extended to other key locations, including Thalassery, Ernakulam, and Kozhikode, where he served as an Additional District Judge.
In recognition of his capabilities, Justice A. Hariprasad took on the responsibility of directing the Kerala Judicial Academy of the High Court of Kerala, a position he assumed on December 2, 2004. Furthering his contributions to the judiciary, he was appointed as the Registrar (Subordinate Judiciary) of the High Court of Kerala on June 1, 2010. During his tenure, he served as the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Ernakulam for approximately nine months.
Continuing his upward trajectory, Justice A. Hariprasad took the oath as an Additional Judge of the High Court of Kerala on January 28, 2013. His dedication and judicial acumen earned him the distinction of being appointed as a permanent judge on June 30, 2014. Throughout his illustrious career, Justice A. Hariprasad has left an indelible mark on the legal landscape, exemplifying a commitment to justice and the rule of law. Justice A. Hariprasad is now a designated Senior Advocate practising at the Hon’ble Supreme Court.

Hon’ble Justice Smt. P. Sree Sudha
Hon’ble Justice Smt. P. Sree Sudha, the eldest daughter of Sri Venkateswarlu and Smt. Padmavathi, was born into a distinguished family. Her father, a retired Judicial Officer, and her mother, a homemaker, instilled values of discipline and diligence.
Commencing her academic journey in Adoni, Kurnool District, she pursued her intermediate education in Kurnool and graduated in Pulivendula of Kadapa District. Justice Sudha earned her Law Degree from A.C. College of Law, Guntur, showcasing her commitment to legal studies.
Having enrolled as a member on the rolls of the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh, Justice Sudha embarked on a legal practice that took her to various locations, including Tenali, Srikalahasti, and Kavali. In the course of her professional endeavours, she entered into marriage with Dr. P. Srikanth Babu, presently serving as the Principal of BRKR Government Ayurvedic Government Medical College in Hyderabad.
Justice Sudha distinguished herself as a legal professional when she was selected as a Direct Recruit District Judge. Her induction into this esteemed position occurred on 21.08.2002. Over the subsequent 19 years, she served diligently in various capacities, including I Additional District and Sessions Judge in Nizamabad, Special Judge for Bomb Blast Cases-cum-Additional Judge for Family Court in Hyderabad, Chairperson for Land Appellate Tribunal-cum-II Additional District Judge in Hyderabad, Industrial Tribunal for Warangal and Khammam Districts, Judge in Mahila Court, Metropolitan Sessions Judge in Vijayawada, Principal District and Sessions Judge in Karimnagar, Visakhapatnam, Nizamabad, and as Chief Judge of the City Civil Court in Hyderabad.
Her expertise extended to roles such as Special Judge for ACB Cases in Hyderabad, Chairperson of VAT Appellate Tribunal and Transport Appellate Tribunal, and Director of Judicial Academy in Secunderabad. In each role, she gained commendable exposure in various branches of law, showcasing her versatility and dedication.
Justice Sudha illustrious career reached its zenith when she was elevated to the Bench as a Permanent Judge of the High Court for the State of Telangana. She assumed her responsibilities in this esteemed position on 15.10.2021, marking a significant milestone in her judicial journey.
Hon’ble Justice Mrs. Surepalli Nanda
Born on 4th April 1969, Honourable Justice Mrs. Surepalli Nanda is the daughter of the late Dr. Bollarum Danappa, a distinguished government doctor specializing in Ophthalmology, and the late Smt. Bollarum Meera. Her early years were spent in Gowlipura, Old City, Hyderabad.
Justice Surepalli Nanda achieved academic excellence throughout her educational journey. She passed SSC in 1st Division from Holy Mary High School, Saifabad, in 1984, followed by Intermediate in first division in Bi.P.C in 1986 from Sarojini Naidu Vanita Maha Vidyalaya, Exhibition Ground, Hyderabad. She obtained a BA in English literature from Osmania University in 1990 and an LL.B (special) degree from Vunki Sanna Rudrappa Law College (VSR Law College), affiliated to Gulbarga University, in 1993. She is married to Sri Surepalli Madhava Rao, a retired District and Sessions Judge and current practicing advocate in A.P. High Court. Their son, Dr. Surepalli Prashanth, is a medical and law graduate actively practicing as an advocate in A.P. High Court.
Justice Surepalli Nanda enrolled as an Advocate on the rolls of the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh on 04-08-1993. Her legal career began by working in the office of Hon’ble Justice G Chandraiah. Subsequently, she served as a Junior Counsel assisting V. Rajagopal Reddy, Senior Advocate, from 1994 to 2000. With over 28 years of active practice at the High Court of Judicature at Hyderabad, Justice Surepalli Nanda handled diverse cases, specializing in Constitutional Law (Writs).
Her pro-bono work for the Legal Services Authority is notable, having served as Panel Advocate for A.P. State Legal Services Authority and Member of A.P. High Court Legal Services Committee. Justice Surepalli Nanda played a pivotal role as a Master Trainer for legal aid panel lawyers in Telangana, contributing to the state's top-ranking in completing the training for Legal Services Panel Lawyers within three months.
Apart from her legal practice, Justice Surepalli Nanda has defended the Bar Council of India as its sole counsel since 2000 and officially served as the Standing Counsel for the Bar Council of India from 2006 until her elevation as a Judge of the High Court of Telangana in 2022.
Her extensive legal career includes roles such as Assistant Government Pleader for Panchayath Raj (2001-2002), Assistant Government Pleader for Land Acquisition (2002-2004), and Standing Counsel for the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh (1995-continuing). She also worked as Reporter for Indian Law Reports, Law Journal of High Court of Andhra Pradesh. Justice Surepalli Nanda served as Central Government Counsel (2010-2015), Panel Advocate for Corporation Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce, and Legal Advisor to Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences. She has represented various entities, including the Union of India and Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, as a special Counsel.
Acknowledging her expertise, Justice Surepalli Nanda has been designated as a Senior Counsel, empanelled for important legal issues on behalf of the High Court of Telangana. She has been recognized as a Legal Expert for NRI Women Safety Cell, a member of the High Court Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC), and has been nominated for various legal advisory roles.
In terms of academic contributions, Justice Nanda has more than 64 reported judgments in various law journals. She has also been actively involved in the legal community, serving as an Executive Committee Member and Secretary of the A.P. High Court Advocates Association, as well as fulfilling the role of Returning Officer for bar elections.
Justice Nanda further expanded her legal repertoire by taking on various roles and responsibilities. Her commitment to public service is evident through her appointments as Panel Advocate for National Commission for Women, New Delhi, for the State of Telangana from 30-11-2018, and as Panel Advocate for National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj from 25-06-2018. She showcased her legal prowess by representing entities like Corporation Bank and Oriental Bank of Commerce as a Panel Advocate, handling cases related to Central Sanman Pension as Government Counsel, and dealing with matters on behalf of Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board, New Delhi, as a special Counsel from 2016 to 2022.
Justice Nanda served as Legal Advisor to Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences and represented Hajee A.P. Bavan and Co. Constructions Pvt. Ltd before the Telangana High Court. Her multifaceted legal expertise is further evidenced by her role as a Member of the Board of Studies, Faculty of Law, Osmania University, from the year 2021.
Recognizing her contributions, Justice Nanda was empanelled as a Senior Advocate in 2021, reinforcing her position as a legal luminary in the High Court of Telangana. Her involvement in the institutional ethics committee of Medical and Health Research Institute, Maternal Health Research Trust, showcased her commitment to ethical considerations in medical research.
Justice Nanda actively participated in various social causes, notably serving as a member of a five-member Interview cum Interaction Committee for the empanelment of Legal Assistants for NIRDPR. Her appointment as a Legal Expert for NRI Women Safety Cell, Women Safety Wing, Telangana State, further underscored her dedication to ensuring the safety and rights of women.
In addition to her legal contributions, Justice Nanda has been an integral part of the High Court Gender Sensitization and Internal Complaints Committee (GSICC) since 30-11-2019. This role aligns with her commitment to fostering a gender-sensitive and complaint-friendly environment within the legal community.
Her pursuit of excellence extends beyond the courtroom, as she received the National Unity Award in 2020 from the Telangana Citizens Council, acknowledging her exceptional service in the legal field. ADV. DEEPAK BHATTACHARJEEE
Adv. Deepak Bhattacharjee did his LL.B. from University College of Law, Osmania University in the year 1981 and thereafter pursued his LL.M. in constitutional law from University PG College of Law, Osmania University in the year 1984. He enrolled as lawyer in the year 1981. He joined the office of Late Upendra Lal Waghray and thereafter, started his independent practice in the year 1983 and became panel advocate of Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank and SBI in the same year. Later he was also empanelled by several renowned banks. He was appointed as Standing counsel of numerous esteemed universities and institutes.
Mr. Bhattacharjee was also designated as Senior Advocate by High Court of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2016. More than 400 + judgements in which he appeared as counsel are reported in law journals. He is now regularly engaged as Senior Advocate in High Court of Telangana, High Court of A.P, Supreme court of India, NCLT, NCLAT, DRT, DRAT by various Law Firms and body corporates.
ADV. BASAVA PRABHU S. PATIL
Adv. Basava Prabhu S. Patil is a Senior Advocate practicing in the Supreme Court of India. He is also the Advocate General for the State of Sikkim. A lawyer with three decades of practice, he has made over 25000 appearances before various forums including High Courts, Commissions and Appellate Tribunals besides having represented his clients in domestic and international arbitrations. His field of law practice is diverse and includes constitution, criminal, electricity, anti-dumping, environment, corporate, telecom, banking, real estate, matrimonial, IT, technology and broadcasting media and entertainment laws. He is an alumnus of University Law College, Bengaluru and was the first to graduate and enroll from its 5-year law course in 1991. He was designated as Senior Advocate by the Karnataka High Court at the age of 39.
Mr. Patil has been conferred with the National Bar Award in 2009 in recognition of his dedication to the study and practice of civil law and the 40th Annual Aryabhata International Award in 2014 in recognition of his service in the field of law. He is also on Board of Examiners, Supreme Court of India for the Advocates on Record Examination and a distinguished visiting faculty at his alma mater, the University Law College. Basava Prabhu lives in Delhi since 2002.
ADV. DR. VENKAT REDDY DONTHI REDDY
Adv. Dr. Venkat Reddy Donthi Reddy is a Senior Advocate, he was born on 31-08- 1965 in Gomaram Village, Medak, Telangana. He has various academic qualifications such as M.A., LLM., PGDHRD, PGDADR, PGDCL&IPR., PhD in Law. Before joining the Advocate profession, he had worked for Indian Air Force in fighter aircrafts for 18 years from 1985 – 2003. Dr. Venkat Reddy had enrolled at Bar to practice as an advocate on 04-09-2003 and is specialised in various areas of law such as Intellectual Property Rights, Constitutional matters, Mines related matters, Criminal and Civil matters as well as Arbitration. During this journey he has represented at various courts including High Courts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad, Allahabad, Dharwad and The Supreme Court of India.

THULASI KALEESWARMA RAJ
The Thulasi is a lawyer practicing at the Supreme Court of India. She works on civil and constitutional law. She was also an Indian Equality Law Fellow at Melbourne Law School (2019) and a Visiting Fellow at the Institute on Law and Philosophy at Rutgers University, New Brunswick (2020). She was the co- counsel for the petitioner in Joseph Shine v. Union of India (2018) before the Indian Supreme Court in which the court held criminalizing adultery to be unconstitutional. She has been closely involved in constitutional cases relating to the equality and non-discrimination law, freedom of religion and free speech and expression, which are her primary research interests. She was also an Equality Fellow at the Centre for Law & Policy Research, Bangalore, India. Further, she was engaged as a Digital Rights Fellow by the Centre for Communications Governance, National Law University, Delhi and worked on free speech cases including a challenge to the constitutionality of the sedition law and the permissibility of regulation of hate speech. She completed her Masters in Law in Public Law with Distinction from University College London. Her paper titled ‘private discrimination, public service and the constitution’ is published in the Indian Law Review (2021). She has co-taught a credit course on discrimination law and theory at the National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata, India.
He She has contributed a book chapter titled ‘Covid-19 and the Crisis in Indian Democracy,’ in the Routledge Handbook on Law and the COVID-19 Pandemic (Joelle Grogan and Alice Donald (eds), Routledge, 2022, (forthcoming). She frequently writes popular articles on relevant socio-legal issues. During her visit at Bonavero, Thulasi will research on aspects relating to Discrimination law, Secularism and Freedom of Religion in India.
DR. SUREPALLI PRASHANTH
Adv. Advocate Dr. Surepalli Prashanth is a unique professional with dual qualifications in medicine and law. Initially graduating with an MBBS degree from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou, People's Republic of China, in 2011, he transitioned to law due to his burgeoning interest and passion. Embarking on a 3-year LL.B course, he secured his LL.B degree with first division honours in 2016 from MSS Law College, Chaderghat, affiliated to Osmania University.
Mr. Prashanth's academic journey continued as he achieved the 10th rank in the TS-PGLCET LL.M entrance exam, leading him to pursue a two-year LL.M degree with a specialization in International Trade & Economic Law from University College of Law, Osmania University. He successfully obtained a first division in the LL.M course in 2021. Furthering his legal education, he completed a postgraduate diploma in International Humanitarian Law from NALSAR University of Law in 2021. Currently, he is a part-time Ph.D. research scholar at ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad, a constituent of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE).
Enrolled as an advocate on the rolls of the Bar Council of Telangana on September 1, 2016, Mr. Prashanth commenced his legal career in the chambers/office of his mother, Hon'ble Justice Surepalli Nanda, practicing in the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh High Courts. His experience spans various legal domains, including constitutional, civil, criminal, labour, revenue, service, and arbitration matters. He continued in her office until her elevation as Judge, High Court of Telangana, in March 2022.
Additionally, Mr. Prashanth assisted his father, Sri Surepalli Madhava Rao, a retired Principal District & Sessions Judge and current practicing advocate in the AP High Court, as a junior counsel. Since March 24, 2022, he has been practicing independently as an advocate, specializing in constitutional law, criminal law, international law, and service law.
Beyond his legal practice, Dr. Prashanth contributes actively to legal education. He has been invited as a moot court judge in various intramural and national moot court competitions. His prolific writing in the field of law is evident through the publication of about 20 articles/research papers in various regional, national, and international law journals. Dr. Surepalli Prashanth's multifaceted expertise and commitment to the legal profession underscore his unique contributions to both the practice and academic aspects of law. Dr. Prashanth qualified in TS-SET (Telangana State Eligibility Test) exam conducted by the Govt. of Telangana for the post of Asst. Professor/ Lecturer in Law in his first attempt.

An innovative and successful legal professional with over 12 years’ experience as corporate advisor and litigation lawyer, and presently working as in house counsel with DLF Limited. Previously practised as an advocate for more than a decade advising clients across industries such as the real estate sector, media and entertainment companies, automobile segment, venture capital fund, oil & gas conglomerate, power & steel.

Manav Gecil Thomas is a Name Partner at the firm. Immediately after finishing law from ILS, Law College Pune he joined Thomas George and Associates under the esteemed guidance of his mentor and father Mr. Thomas George. He has also been invited to give guest lectures at various Law Colleges on different subjects like “How to excel at Law School” “The Practical aspect of Civil Procedure Code” and others.
Prior to joining TG&A, he interned under the guidance of the current Justice of Supreme Court Hon’ble Justice Kurian Joseph wherein he gained the appreciation of the Hon’ble Justice for his eminent research skills. He further interned with Retd. Hon’ble Justice of High Court of Kerala and currently designated Senior Counsel of Supreme Court of India R. Basant wherein he assisted in numerous cases and was highly appreciated for his hard work and dedication. MOOT PROPOSITION
1. Indigo is a sovereign, socialist, secular, democratic and republican country that operates under a federal system with 28 states and 9 Union territories. The President serves as the head of the Nation, while the Prime Minister is the head of the Council of Ministers to aid the President. The country follows a parliamentary form of government with two houses, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Here the elections are contested once in 5 years for Lok Sabha and 6 years for Rajya Sabha and to ensure free fair election there is an Independent Election Commission that ensure free and fair elections at right intervals in the whole nation.
2. Those who are elected directly or indirectly to either house of Parliament are commonly referred to as Members of Parliament (MPs). In the Lok Sabha, the members are directly elected by citizens, while in the Rajya Sabha, the members are elected indirectly
3. In Indigo, states have their own government and the head of the State is the Governor. The Chief Minister is the head of the Council of Ministers for the State, to aid the Governor. In the state, the power is shared among the central and state governments. Some state legislatures are bicameral and some are unicameral. The two houses of a state legislature are known as Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council.
4. Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) are directly elected and members of the Legislative Council are elected indirectly.
5. After certain politicians tried to change their parties after coming to power, through the 52nd Amendment to the Constitution, the Anti-Defection law was introduced. The said law has undergone changes and amendments with the passage of time.
6. After elections in various dates, the politicians after being elected tried to create a split in the political parties as well as to merge their political parties so as to wriggle out of the rigours of the Anti-Defection law.
7. Due to the misuse of the loopholes in the Anti-Defection law, a publicspirited NGO named “Janseva” filed a Writ Petition before the Honourable Supreme Court challenging the constitutional validity of the AntiDefection law.

Note:
1. The laws of Indigo are pari materia to the laws, rules and regulations of enacted from time to time by India.
2. The issues should be limited to only the constitutional validity of the loopholes in the Anti-Defection Law
3. The Petitioner will be Janseva and the Respondent will be the Union of Indigo.
4. The matter is coming up for final hearing
5. Students to frame a maximum of 4 issues and not beyond the same.
Rules for the Competition:
I. Two students from a law college are eligible to form a team for the purpose of participating in this competition. One college can send a maximum of 2 teams.
II. Team shall not comprise a researcher, thus, meaning both the team members are speakers.
III.Teams shall be known by the names of students alphabetically, for instance, if two students i.e., Mr. Suresh Rana of X Law College, Hyderabad and Ms. Padmavathi Rathore of X Law College, Hyderabad choose to form a team, then, the team code shall be Ms. Padmavathi Rathore and Mr. Suresh Rana. Alphabetically meaning P preceded S in the example.
IV.Students of all years of the Five year and Three year law courses are eligible to participate in this Competition.
V. Registration Fees for each team- Rs.500/-. The said amount can be paid via Googlepay on +91 9391043655. Incase the students want to pay the fees to a bank account, an email requesting bank details to be sent.
VI.It is mandatory to send in the acceptance email through the official email Ids of the colleges or through Moot Court Society Email Ids, however acceptance emails can be sent through the personal email id of any team member incase the college does not have any such society.
VII. A mail with the team code agreeing to participate in the said competition shall be sent by the participants on or before 15/11/2023 after paying the registration fees. The said email must provide the postal addresses with pincodes of both the team members, mobile numbers of both the team members, Scanned Copy of College ID Card of both the team members and Screenshot of the proof of payment of registration fees.
VIII. For all further correspondences the teams shall communicate using the email Id used for sending the confirmation email and no communication from new Email Ids will be entertained.
IX.Each speaker shall speak for 15 minutes subject to extension granted by the judges.
X. The meeting links for the competition and rounds will be sent to the email ids from which the soft copy of the memorials are sent.
XI.Competition will be held on 09/12/2023 & 10/12/2023. A short Inauguration ceremony shall take place on 09/12/2023 which shall be attended by all participants without fail.
XII. Steady internet connection to be maintained.
XIII. Cameras to be turned on at all times during the rounds.
XIV. Compendiums to be sent online only by 07/12/2023 on or before 5 pm
XV. Breach of deadlines shall entail disqualification.
XVI. In case during the rounds if there is any internet interruption from the side of the participant, then, a 5 minutes extension only will be granted, subject to the discretion of the judge.
XVII. Feedback after each round shall be provided.
XVIII. All clarifications sought to be sent on or before 24/11/2023.
XIX. Dress Code for Men: White Shirt, Black or Grey Blazer, Black or Grey formal pants. Dress Code for Women: White Salwar Kameez with dupatta or White Shirt, Black or Grey Blazer, Black or Grey formal pants or skirt.
XX. Failure to follow the dress code shall entail disqualification subject to the discretion of the Judge.
XXI. The Moot Court Coordinator is Mr. Rohit Soni who can be contacted during working hours i.e., 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM at +91 9391043655. However, all queries to be sent via email only and not whatsapp/text.

Memorial Rules:
1. Each team to prepare a Written Memorials for the side of Petitioners and the side Respondent.
2. Blue Colour Cover Page for the Written Memorial of the Petitioners.
3. Red Colour Cover Page for the Written Memorial of the Respondent.
4. Soft Copies of the Memorials to be sent by 01/12/2023, on or before 5 pm.
5. Memorials shall not exceed 6 A4 size pages of MS Word docx. However, index, index of authorities, facts of the case, issues framed, and prayer shall not be included while arriving at 6 pages.
6. Body of Contents: Font size- 12, Font Style- Bookman Old Style, Line Spacing- 1.5, Paragraph Spacing- 0, Margin- Default as mentioned in MS Word docx.
